They're 1,000 horsepower. And they're unbeatable. I've already asked all the Arcitc Cat guys. lol
But like tomseal6 said, with even a few mods, work, and setup changes they can bring that 172 right up and past 200 from what I hear.

Yep 172. But add aft. pipes, head work, porting, and it'll be over 195-200 EASY.
I want one!!!!!!!

Yeah great sled, average they dyno around 166-170s area...
if your racing one you dont wanna line up against a 1998, fastest year than in 1999 they switched chassies changed skids, changed pipes lots of differences from them, and the 1998 is also one of the highest power outputs 172+ if i recall
2002 was a nice sled, the SS skid was junk, power was pretty good tehy also changed the front spindles, added reverse as a standard, changed the graphics, 1" track and wider running boards for the last year

They are SOOOOOO heavy though. Kinda like the early 90's 700 wild cat. Those things were tanks.

There heavy but ehy arent too bad, like our ZRT with that lil extra weight then the ZR handles better then the ZR as the front end stays PLANTED around the corners, dads got his ZRT set-up like shes on rails however haha

but alot less fuel mileage. I bet they will pass everything except a gas station. I couldnt justify owning one. If I wanted that much HP, I would just buy a BB for the SRX and forget all that extra weight of the T-cat
Ive also heard of well tuned SRX's on stock bore giving T-cat owners big headaches.

Last year in 660 i took two, one was piped and clutched.... they really are 1000-1320 sled, no powervalves or anything like that, 1320' they still hold the speed record at 108.75mph

short drag I think the SRX has the power to weight advantage. I would NEVER try to run a T-cat in 1000-1320 at a race.

yeah it would be different story especially the piped one
i know where a mint 2002 T-cat is under 1000miles, been up stairs at a dealership tucked away for years, one day id like to own it

You guys gotta give SRX's a lot more credit!!!
Some facts..1000cc stock bore/stroke Tcats with porting and pipes will make 185hp, not 200, as a TRAIL sled (under 9000rpms)...I don't care what anyone says, and I wouldn't hesitate to race one such Tcat with my Apex (without the Nitrous!). Bring IT!!!
My Tcat was 1100cc. It revved 8500, and made about 210hp. TRAIL rode all the time, even with Harmony as a passenger for a couple seasons. It had the 13gal fuel tank, got about 100 miles to a tank of fuel. Not bad.
SRX's are surprisingly quick....even if the Tcat is faster, I bet it takes a while to catch up....throw in 5" of snow and the SRX will stay out front.
A Tcat may hold a speed record, but are you guys racing at the drags, or out on the lakes and fields with buddys?!!!!!!
I think if you SRX guys keep your sleds in a good state of tune, clean clutches, good belt, clean PV's, etc, you shouldn't have a problem giving most Tcat's a hard time!!!!
Stay with your reliable Yamaha power and quality, getting a Tcat as your main sled is a step backwards. Arctic Cat suspensions may ride nice, but the way it's made (quality) is sub 1985ish!! After owning my Apex for 2 seasons, and buying Harmony's 03 ZR900 this past fall, I was shaling my head at how CRAPPY AC suspensions are made compared to a Yamaha. Simply amazes me that AC still uses the same old junk now!!
Anyways, my 02c worth!!

Thanks for the pics. Now I know what to look out for in the field. I like that big iddler wheel in the back, looks nice.
Call me a rookie I though BRP had the highest HP sled last year with the 1000cc SDI. You learn every day.
