Any of you powdercoat guys have any methods used to repair or at least help minamize the typical flaking that occures to fisher plows? Just bought a new plow and really want to try and keep it's newness.

I had my Meyer plow sand blasted and painted two years ago and rust and peel is very very minimal..

your not going to ever stop it(it lives in a harsh world)but get rid of the rust
then paint with a qualty paint and sh'ell last.

There is a paint called IMRON. they paint airplanes with it. It is really dangerous to inhale and you have to mix hardener with it to get it to work properly,, but I think you will be VERY HAPPY with the results.. I think R M makes it....

Ive painted a FEW trailers that I built a BUNCH of years ago, and they still look brand new!!!

dupont imron is very hard. we always used it in engine compartments.

call resteration sandblasting in bangor. they do a complete plow for 300. then take it to a body shop. they will charge another 300ish to paint it.

Go to www.plowsite.com . . .

There is a Fisher Forum on there with lot's of good info including repainting Fisher Plows.

I have an old conventional that I use around the farm.

The original Fisher paint is very hard to sandblast off.

http://www.letstalksnow.com/forums/ is a better board IMO. The powder coat sucks. We have a whole fleet of plows and once the powder coating starts to peel there is no stopping it. The rust gets under the edges and away it goes. Sandblast and paint is the way to go. Sandblasting the powder coating sucks because it is so hard. We use Hamilton Sandblasting.....they come to us. I spray everything with Dupont epoxy etching primer IMEDIATLEY after the blasting is done and top coat with cheap equipment enamel. The paint holds up OK but the primer is key. Commercial plowing is tough on any surface so we just sandblast and paint as needed.
