Well, finally got around to getting the pipes on my sled. Got the Power Inc center dumps from mm700sleder<--(thank you). Did 89L weights, 4.5g rivet, 145 mains across the board, didn't change the pilots, only thing dealer didn't have, and left the secondary stock. Also, I left the needles at factory position for now. Did a plug check, WOT for about 5 sec or so, hit kill switch. Plugs looked perfect, was happy about that. Anyways, rode about 95 miles today, noticed my RPM's are about 8300-8400ish on stock tach, isn't this a tad high? Sled doesn't seem like it loses any power, just a hard, steady pull. Just wondering if there is anything I should do to fine tune jetting or clutching, as in needle positions, should I be safe and change pilots, or anything else with the clutches? Could RPM's be too high because my belt has a few miles on it, over 1000, and I haven't adjusted my secondary?
All help is very appreciated.
On the lighter side, the sled sure is snappy, and boy! does it ever sound like it's PISSED OFF!! A little louder than I thought it would be, sure gets the looks!
Raced my 2 buddies on hard pack trail, they both have 02 Vipers stock. I gave them the hit, I got on it, and was by them in about 2 secs. Pulled past them very easily, I was kind of surprised. But anyways, just wanted to share this with everyone. Thanks for reading.

Cmon, I know there is a lot of people on here that are a lot smarter than I am with these things, and could give their 2c worth. Just trying to learn what to do to make it better.
Thanks

Get with Turk, he's dialed in all the pipes out there do what he says to do and you'll be happy.
I was running the same set up but used 47.5 pilots on mine and raise the needles 1/2 right accross...But I was right on 8200...I'm gonna run benders this year and I will try to raise my RPM just a bit....8400-8500...will see but you are right on...I will raise the needles and fatten the pilots just to be safe...Nick

Ok, I'll do those things tomorrow, do you think that will bring my RPMs down a bit? I really paid attention to them tonight on a ride, looks like when I pin it, they start at about 7900-8000 and climb a couple seconds to about 8400ish maybe a bit more. Like I said before, it doesn't seem to lose power at all, I did a 0-100 blast this afternoon, was still pulling hard when I let off...so I don't know. Maybe my tach is off a little bit.
Thanks
Thanks
No needles wont take your RPM's down and pilots either I'll do it anyways Cause they control your fuel on the low end and midrange, that way you now you are safe when you run on the trails....Nick
Hey but I'm notthe expert here some guys might correct me...I'll say if you thinck you don't loose power, keep going with those Rpm no problem but do the needles and pilots

This should help......
Hey man,
I'm in the four stroke mode now, but I ran PI centre dumps in my '97 "Red Rocket" 700 for 15000 km's, give or take. (no, that 15000 is not a typo.)
Those centre dumps are actually best suited to spin around 8000 MAX!!!
The only way I could ever keep mine from over reving was to go up a tooth on the top gear. They are designed to run at a LOWER shift RPM than the stock single, so going up a tooth is really the only way to keep your RPM where you want it and maintain, and increase, your top end.
Don't even consider racing a stock viper a fair fight........ I used to KILL my Dad's really well running, clutched RX-1 unless he had several thousand feet to reel me in........just food for thought.
Hope this info helps.

Actually guys, after seeing a pic of the center dumps, I have concluded that I have the end dumps. Didn't know it until I saw the pic. I was just going by what was told was sent to me... So now I have to redo some things to set it up correctly. Now I know why I have the overeving problem.
Now, if someone would give me an idea what the correct setup for end dumps is, I'd be alright.
