On some start-ups (not all) my sleds lights do not turn on for about 1 min. Is this normal for srx's??? If so what is the cause? If not what is the problem?

It's normal. The relay is just stuck, usually happens on cold mornings

On a SRX there is suppose to be a small delay, it does that so the all the voltage go's to firing the plugs..

He is not referring to the short delay. Yes there is a short delay at startup, as the load control relay doesn't allow the loads to turn on until 700 rpm so that the start-up spark power is maximized. I know what he is talking about though and TopGunn is absolutely correct. Sometimes the relay hangs for awhile on cold mornings, so the lights, tach, etc won't work for a minute or even a couple of minutes. But if you just let it warm up the vibration usually frees it up so when you jump on it all is functional. I had that happen on mine probably 5 or 6 times when I had it. Nothing to really be too concerned of as far as I can see.

Is the problem of the load control relay getting "stuck" not caused by some moisture in it? I know pretty much every morning my lights are out for at least 1 minute. I beleive the solution is to take the relay out, set it in a warm dry area overnight and it's fixed? True or False? I've never actually tried this... I just use it as a timer to know when to give it just enough gas to get it out of the garage to warm it up lol.

In warmer weather mine is fine. On very cold mornings it take a while to work. No big deal it works just fine after a min or so. Now if your lights never come on or take 5 min then i would say replace the relay.
But I think its a built in thing with Yamaha, not putting a load on the system until its a little warm.

They don't do it new typically. Usually its after they are a few years that they will start doing it. I know mine didn't do it new.

Good to know, but hey would be a good idea to take the load off the system . LOL

Where is this relay? I'm having light problems on my 97 700sx. In another thread I thought it mentioned the relay not being used until 01 or something. Does anyone know how the 97's were wired?
My srx was doing this so I took out the relays for the night (blue and white by your left knee) dryed them out (put on heat register) and have not had the problem again.

this is an issue on all brands as far as I know.
My xc does this in really cold temps as well. I look at it as a way of the sled telling me it needs to warm up more before riding it, esp in cold temps.
