I installed a set of powermadd handguards on the wife's 2002 SXR 600. I have read all the post about mounting them. I have tried everyway but when I turn to the right it will hit the windshield. Turn to the left and it will clear by a inch. It has the stock winshield I believe. I tried 2inch and three inch risers and they were both the same. Wife won't let me cut it down and doesn't want to pay $120 for a different one.

I was starting to think that the handle bars might be bent or the skis out of wack. Even the steering block lines up square. After three hours I walked away. I was ready to take the hacksaw to the dam thing.

Wierd, i have the same set up with a 3" riser and I clear mine just fine....post some pictures and maybe I can help you...

cole 55 I sent you a P.M. asking you the same thing about pictures. This sled is starting to really piss me off. I messed with it for another hour today. Time to monkey with some other sleds that are going to pay me some money. I will take some pics later.

Can you tilt the bars forward or back? Maybe try that. I've never put any on my sled, but maybe it'll help with some more clearance. Just throwing out some more ideas.

I keep looking at it and I know there is a way I just haven't found it yet. I squared up the steering post as best I could to the frame. Checked the ski's and they are perfect.. The only thing that I did notice was that the spindle bracket that connects to the tie rod is not in the same place as the oppisite side. The left side sitting on the sled, the tie rod bolt is smack dab in the middle of the trailing arm and the right side is almost on the outside edge of the trailing arm. Now if I agjust it to move it to center, the right ski tip will point outwards and the left will be straight. If I adjust them to be equally spaced on the trailing arms the handlebars are turned to the left sitting on the sled. I tried getting the tie rod bolts out under the y-pipe in the sled but they must be seized in. No way to give them a tap without taking the y-pipe off and I am not going that far for some hand guards. What I am thinking is that either the handle bar mount is welded on crooked or the spindle is crooked. If the spindle bracket was in the center , it would work. I will stare at it again tomorrow, not enough snow to ride yet anyways.

Ya I know about that one under the engine. Haven't looked at it yet to see if I can do it with out pulling the motor. If I have to do that then the hand gaurds can go bye, bye.
