How much will a bad belt contribute to bad gas consumption?
My viper seemed to be revving a bit high 200 rpm or so...any thoughts

It could make a difference if the belt is slipping, plus there's no point to turn over the peak rpm. Do the clutches get hot, or is there a black ring on the clutch faces? How long has the belt been on, and what does the width measure? Where does the belt sit in the secondary, flush with top or below?
Sorry about all the questions, lol. What kind of milage are you getting, and is it stock or have pipes? Also depends on what kind of riding you do. My Mnt. Viper I ride in powder and hill climb most of the day, I get about 6mpg! I've seen around 11-12 trail riding when there's not enough snow to play off the trail. Have I mentioned how much I hate not being able to get off the trail? lol

a worn belt wont let the clutches shift out all the way and cause more chugging at the bottom. bot will suck more gas
