Ok I did the search but didn't came out with nothing really good, so Any tips...Put the bolt back on the shaft and Hit it ?
Take the big idlers off ? How ?
I have the skid dwon and ready to do it, but I don't feel like fighting...

Thanks

Nick

I'f I remember right I used a rubber mallet and pounded the end of the axle until the big Idler on that side slid off... then the rest of the axle will slide right out. If you dont have a rubber mallet then put the bolt in the axle and hit it with a regular hammer, be careful though, you dont want to beat the head of the bold too bad.

yep I tried that with a block of wood I guess I have to try harder at least I know I'm in the right direction..Thanks

Nick

might work I'm affraid of the plastics wheels...If I hit it and came out do it it has to work....Don't be afraid to hit it too hard...Nick

we have hit it 100+ time and its not budging, Planning on heating the adustment collars which is where i think they are stuck, even the bearings are stuck on the axel.

Sorry to hijack the post per say, but whats the best way to get the axel out if hammering it out doesn't seem to work?

Heat? its a 96 XT
you could be in a bad boat here ...I had problem with my axle ..tried everything to get it to slide out ..it was frooze on one of the collars ..finally put the heat to it(no choice) and melted the aluminum shaft in two ,..but i got it out , had to put another axle in her. somthings just wont fix, must be replaced, thats the way it goes with old shit. plan on replacing the axle!

I have a question for ya guys, when I put in my transfer rods and I put the bolt in the bottom of the rod, how tight are you supposed to tighten them???
