Love the engine, looks, etc. always been a big yamaha fan but I want to improve the ride. Any suggestions. What is the best way. How does an m-10 work under these or don't I need to go that far? I don't know if it had the shock upgrade, how could I find out? Just bought the sled a week ago.

Extend it to 136" and put an M-10 in it, then it will ride really nice. I have an M10 in mine and it rides very good compared to stock. I do miss the rider forward of the apex though.

I have heard a few people that have put the Ohlins in the rear skid that claimed it improved the ride quite a bit. I rode a guys '99 SX 700 a couple years ago. (w/760BB kit , set up like Nathan Titus's former open sled) It had long traveled Ohlins all around and it rode and handled incredible. He snowcrossed it some years back ,then used it as a trail sled when he got out of racing and it was a total riot to ride.

Swap out the skid for something else. Some will say they can improve the ride of the pro-action skid, and I wont say you cant, but the truth of the matter is, its just not a good design.
I went with a Cat skid, others have used Polaris and Doo skids, They are all way better then the pro-action suspension for just about all conditions.
The benifit to buying one of these other skids is price and parts availability( along with ride quallity ) compared to a M10 or Expert x. I paid less then $250 for my Cat skid, its hard to find M10s for less the $500 used.
Good luck

Go with an M-10, I just put one in and it's like a whole different sled. The stock skid worked great on groomed trails, but as soon as you get into the rough it lets you down. I was taking 8-12" moguls at twice the speed I could with the stock skid.

Thanks for the input, Ive heard of a lot of people using Cat skids. What should I look for and which requires the least amount of modification?

Make sure it is from a 121" tracked sled. Some guys prefer 02 or newer because they have the coupler blocks. One without coupler blocks will actually handle the nasty bumps better, but will transfer weight more giving you less ski pressure when on the gas in a corner. Mine is uncoupled and It works great. If you are a bigger guy(200# plus) you may want one that is coupled.

With the M-10, did you lose any acceleration or top speed? How about weight transfer? Just curious.
