How many and what lenght of stud on a TCAT

YAMMIEGOD,

What can be gaind by putting 4 studs in EACH rib of the track ONLY down the center leaving the edges of the track unstudded?

It would look like this..

TOM MANY STUD THEIR TRACK THE EXACT WAY YOU DESCRIBE. I WOULD THINK ON A 172 HP 1000 T CAT, YOU WANT STUDS ON OUTSIDE ALSO. WHO TO SAY 192 WOULD EVEN BE ENOUGH. SLED WITH THAT KINDA OF POWER MIGHT NEED 240, THAN YOU WOULD NEED OUTSIDE. !! 3:16 (yammie tony)

That pattern I described requires a ton of studs doesnt it??? I have been led to believe the outer studs are installed to help you corner. Guess If I was doing it that way just down the center I better get some sharp carbides. I always lost most of my studs on the edges when I drag raced. The center drilled studs never fell out just bent over ocassionally. That stud pattern looks like it can be alot of sheet and git!!!!!!

IF YOU HAVE A DOUBT WHAT YOU WANT, GET A TEMPLATE FROM WOODYS. THIS IS TO YOUR EXACT APPLICATION FOR RACE OR TRAIL. AND YOUR CORRECT, OUTSIDE IS MOSTLY FOR CORNERS. BUT AGAIN WHEN YA RUN ALOT OF STUDS. YOU NEED OUTSIDE. FOUR IN THE MIDDLE IS NOT INPOSSIBLE. GET A TEMPLATE THOUGH. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Thanks Tony,

I had a template before and did what it said for 192 studs. It has the holes in it for the 4 across the middle as I mentioned and I suppose you would just have to move it up every rib to get that same 4 in the middle pattern.

I suppose if I go grass dragging again someday I will ONLY stud the center with 4 studs. For trail riding, Im guessing I would stud every other edge or what would it hurt to have every edge studded?

My Freinds that use to lake race their ported & piped ones always said "You see track, put a stud there" LOL Tey also had NOS
