warning light blinking

after riding for 15-20 miles my light blinked 3 times then nothing. We stopped at a bar and only about 3 mins after leaving it blinked again 3 times but didn't come on the rest of the way home. Any ideas? where do I found info on this.

you would not think so, but wouldn't hurt to check things out, did ya check
out tech section for the code?
 
When it kicks the red triangle warning light on, it will also light up one of the emblems to the left of the fuel bars. Need to look and see which one is lighting up, my guess either temp or engine emblem.

it was the orange one right next to the high beam(blue Light). No red triangle light came on. Mine is a 2004 if that makes a different. Honestly we were running over 100mph and I really shouldn't have counted the blinks but remembered someone on here saying that's how you tell what's wrong. I'm heading to my local yami shop tomorrow to talk to the mechanic.
 
I didn't have much time when I answered to elaborate more, but will do so now. As per my '03. My warning light is also next to the high beam light, it has a hazard triangle with a red/orange round background. When this comes on, it will also light up an icon to the left of the fuel bars. There is temp, oil, gas, and engine icon. As far as the dcs light on yours (mine doesn't have it), does it have it's own light, or does it flash the warning and then light up a dcs icon? Anyway on my sled when the warning light comes on, it will also light up one of the four icons to let you know where the problem is. If it's the engine icon that's lit, then you watch the blink interval so you can check the code to see where it detected a problem. I realize that at 100mph you probably didn't want to take your eyes off the road for very long, lol. The different code intervals are shown in the back of my owners manual.
 
don't mean to hijack but i noticed the same thing on my 02 tonite. it is the engine icon and it blinks 3 times and repeats. it does this from the moment i start it to when i shut it off. in the tech section is says something about the thumbwarmer but it seems to work fine. anyone have an idea?
 
yeah the only light that came on with mine was the one right next to the high beam light. If it's the thumb warmer I'm not worried then since mine are always on the lowest setting. mine only blinked 3 times then stopped for the rest of the ride. :o|
