Has any one installed one of the " Communicator Power.Com" units on an SRX? The directions suck. There are two wires coming out of the unit and it says, in the directions, to "find a stable 12volt plug or two wires". What the hell does that mean. Do you have to find two 12-volt wires??? If someone knows please help me out. I tried to call the help number but got no answer.

Well, you need a good, constant 12 volt source. The red wire will go to a positive 12 volt source and the black to a chassis ground. You need to find that source. Maybe it is the same wire people use for the heated shields--I think it is blue/white (do a search) inside the handlebar pad. Not sure how constant that is, though.

what year srx?

It’s a 2002. Both wires coming out of the "box" have RED ends. The directions specifically tell you NOT to ground one of the wires, it may cause damage to the unit. I cant make heads or tails out of the directions.

the power from the sled will be up at the headlight dimmer switch, thats good clean regulated 12 DC volts there, as far as your wiring for you box, I dont know off the top of my head, I would need to see the directions.
if you can scan them and post them i might be able to help.

I typed them verbatim. "Find a stable 12volt plug or two wires" The directions specifically tell you "NOT to ground one of the wires, it may cause damage to the unit". Those are the direction. Pretty lame huh. There is no wiring diagram and no schematics.

that is pretty lame, you need a ground to have a circuit.

I'll take a look at the directions tonight and scan them if I can't figure them out.

Thanks, I looked in my SRX service manual and it tells you the accessory plug is the blue wire coming out of the load control. That’s 12volt clean DC power. But I still cant hook up the box, I need 2 wires. Any help would be appreciated.
Most likely its asking you to hook it to a ground wire, rather than risking interference or (picking up a source off the chassis) by using a chassis ground...Yamahasrx700 said:Thanks, I looked in my SRX service manual and it tells you the accessory plug is the blue wire coming out of the load control. or try this out...place on end on your car battery + and with a test light lead to -, touch the other wire with tip of test light & see if it just loops out...if it doesn't light up than thats a ground wire...

I just talked to the guy from Communicator Power. What a nice guy. He said He left the instructions vague so people would call him. It appears that an A/C voltage sled has wires that pulse high and others that pulse low if you bridge them both you have D/C power, they phase at opposite frequency. If you have just one leg of A/C and run the other to ground you will fry the unit. So he told me to verify the clean D/C by using a D/C meter. Connect one wire to that and the other to ground. Nice guy. He also told me how to hook up my helmet cam to his unit. Thanks for the effort dudes.

FYI- all power on the 2000-02 srx is DC after the regulator/rectifier.
