What do you use to clean the clutches? I used Acetone but I can't get the dark/white corrosion off the plates. It maybe from salt. Please let me know what I could use or do.
Thanks

I always use "brake clean" and then a fine steel wool to polish the faces of the clutch to get the corrosion and belt resido off.

red or grey scotch brite scuff pads from the auto paint supply store (3m) and an acetone based cleaner. i acutally have a clutch cleaning solution i bought from powermad. but, brake clean, carb clean and electrical contact cleaner should work just fine. you need to rough up the surface of the sheeves to get better belt adhesion. keeps the clutches consistant. ski

what i do some might not agree with but i start my machine with the belt off and take a peice of green or grey scotchbrite and being very careful polish the clutch with it spinning, that way you'll not get any high or low spots
