Hi all,
I'm not one to race really, but my neighbour at the cottage just bought a bone stock 2005 Ski-Doo MX Z (I beleive) 600 H.O. SDI.
I'll be riding with him often, so I really just want to know if my sled will be able to take him out of the hole, in a short run, and WIDE open on a lake.
He has 3000 kms on his sled, mine is just under 2000. No studs on his, I have 96 up the middle.
Just curious... Also, from what I've heard about how Doo's ride, he will be ahead of me in the trails.

I raced one and got a bad launch and he beat me. Wouldn't race again and never heard the end of it. They are about the same hp so don't take it for granted that you have 100cc's more. In the twisties NO sled could keep up with me, but i had that viper dialed. C&A razors out front, bergstrom skegs, and 192 studs. That sled was a animal in the woods. Normally modest I am but I am a lot more experienced rider so maybe that was it. If the cheap skate would let me ride his I would have been able to make a comparison.
Bottom line it will be very close

Yeah, those Doo's can really move. Sounds like you were racing a short distance. I would hope that the top end of the 700 tripple could out run the 600 in a loooong lake run.

I had a 02 viper 136" track, bender can, and my buddy had a 2004 600 ho sdi with vforce reeds last year. We lined em up and he got a small advantage on the hole and it took me a while just to catch up to him. A month later i purchased a thunder shift clutch kit with heavy hitters and put in a red secondary spring. We raced a week later after that and i got the hole shot on him and just kept on truckin. Looked back the whole time at him. Lol. pretty funny. Amazing what a little right clutch work will do. Now i put on bender pipes re-clutched it and added tempaflow. Not even funny anymore. Putting pipes on the viper was the best investment ive ever made. Power is amazing.
Assuming you done your homework on pipes for a viper be careful of the tempaflow on a warm stop then take off she will be lean till the air gets flowing past the body.

So Viperinabluedress, could you at least reel him in and then pass him wide open?
The 700 Tripple has to have longer legs than a 600 HO no?

Not sure what a REV 60 is, but I would say you have that 600HO with your SRX... I don't think anyone will dispute that. Hands down even if you loose the hole shop, that tripple tripple HAS to fly by that Doo.

My buddy has a 600 sdi 2005. Nice trail sled. My SRX kills it, he won't even bother trying to race....I want him to race my wife with her sxr 700 and I am confident she'll win on a long race. The rev is just too high and the way the suspension is set up is for trails and bumps I never had it over 90 and didn't feel comfortable on it at those speeds.....nothing is like an SRX at 100 plus. You'll beat him on a long run, i'd put $$$ on it, unless your valves are stuck or some other issue.

That's what I like to hear! I really just wanted to be able to pull away from the Doo on a nice long lake run.
I can't even believe you are asking. I killed a couple of 800 HOs last year with my single piped Viper. Search my ID with the words "weekend take down". Get a set of heel clickers and a shallow finish helix (like 48/34), then get out there and kick some ***. They might get you off the line, especially if you have the cone track, but you should kill them in 3000' races.

A buddy of mine bought a new 600 REV a couple weeks ago, had just under 500 miles on it when I raced him with my Yammi 3 days ago, we raced from a roll on from about 20 to about 80, I didn't seem to have much of a problem with him, pulled a sled length or so on him, he got a little jump on me, a few feet, then I went be him pretty quickly after that, it probably would have been different from a start though. Anyways, he was actually pretty surprised, he was like, "man that thing really goes!" Mods are in my sig.

I'll let you know how I do since I pick up a 2004 Rev 600HO sdi. next week. I was running with a 2001 MXZ 600 and two 2005 rev 800 three days ago and the 01 could keep up better then the 800. This was on trails though

Looking forward to hearing about that stretchSXV.
I will hopefully be up on the 27th to see this Doo. Not sure if there will be anywhere for us to run them out, but hey.

I hear the rev sleds are not that good aerodynamically.
That would not help on the top end, as well as the fact that a triple likes to sing at higher speeds.
Those 600SDI motors are very powerful for a 600.

About 3-5 more HP and lighter, truthfully itll be a hell of a dig. The Sdi is his advantage in warmer temps hes gonna be right all the time.
