The Temp light keeps coming on my sled,Most times it blinks and sometimes it stays solid. Bled the system today and the boards are getting hott and its melting snow. When I give her gas the light goes off,Can it just be the sensor? and if so how hard are they to change and where can I find one??

My coolant temperature light was blinking long with the warning indicator. The sensor ohmed out correctly hot and cold. I ohmed the wires to the gauge pod breaking connections along the way. When I re-connected all the wiring, the problem was gone.

If possible please share, that way we don't have to keep reposting, a search is all thats needed...thanks....can you just imagine a forum with no responses :o|

coolant light

its a wiring issue some had the problem some didnt recheck all the connections to sensor and istrument panel mine had a losse connection never had the problem again hope this helps

2002 Viper, did you ever find out what the problem was?? Mine was doing it last weekend but it was a solid indicator. Let me know so next time I am up north I can fix it.

Thanks.

buddy has an SRX motor in his mountain max, and his temp light was blinking. He said that it wasnt hot and finally figured out it was a power valve problem. stopped blinking after that. dont know if that helps you out any

I just bought it and the old owner said that they were just cleaned and adjusted. The sled only has 1900 miles on it. But it wasn't blinking at all just a solid indicator. The problem was only when we were on the trail doing 17-25 mph. once I hit the lake or road at 35-55 mph it would turn off. I would stop on the trail to look at the overflow and it was luke warm. The engine was warm as well.

Mine checked out as COS"S did, the sensor's hot/cold ohm's were fine. Dealer told me to put in a new sensor ??

Had power valves adjusted, no change.

I said screw it, and went to Advance Auto. I bought a $ 20 mech. temp gauge. I followed a post in the tech pages here, it was easy! Got a brass T fitting to put in the overflow bottle return line. Drilled a 2" hole in the dash and popped in the gauge.

Now when the light starts it's blinking, I look at the gauge and see it's running at about 140~150* it makes staying focused on staying on the trail a lot easier.

Thanks Lucky, I will look into the wire harness as well. I appreciate the input. The only problem is the sled is up north where I store it and ride it. Next trip up I will look at it.

This maybe a dumb question but the sensor is the plastic peice going into the head right? and the instrument panel is the peace down by the lower left foot right?

I am having the same issue and have checked every wire and the harrness execpt under the motor which is looking like the next spot. From as far as I can see it looks fine under there, but I think I need to pull it out.

From my understanding the '02 Viper's are notorious for this (kinda like the fricken TORS issue).

Certainly there could be a wiring, coolant, sensor, etc problem but in my opinion the design itself is susceptable to overheating depending on conditions.

You may want to consider the larger rear heat exchanger. I've had similar problems in different sleds and in both cases the larger heat exchanger solved the problem.
