my 500 will die off with no power at around 50 to 65 mph. when you just crusin around like 40 mph and gun it, it takes it a min then it will get going till you get around 50 to 60 and then it just dropps off the chart with bog and no power. when i take off from stop or around 20 and gun it it will hull *** with power all over. i dont see much on here for 500 twins. what can i do to wake her up.

i just serviced the clutch and i am going to hopefully get to cleaning the carbs tonight and to the reed notch.the sled had 500 miles on it when i got last year so i didnt clean the carbs but it has sat alot so they could be gummy.
i seem to be the sx500r guy now a-days. start with the carbs 1st as they are the most popular reason for bogs.

which clutch did you service?... sounds like the secondary not backshifting properly, if it's not a fuel issue...

The twins are fairly hard on clutches they may need to be rebuilt. My brother has one, the 8ab weights and 47 41 helix made a big difference.
i did it to mine and it made the sled easyer to start and gave it a little more snap. just make shure you radius the corners when you do it. square corners cause them to break much more easily.

i serviced both clutches and everything was still tight. their is less than 1000 miles on the sled. so it must be in the carbs.i am going to clean them today and to the reed notch. and all the snow melted off here yesterday so now i got to wait till we get more to go ride and see if it fixed it.
