I am at wits end, almost. This sled is causing me to drink-alot. I ran sled for about 10 min., got out in to a field and nothing but BOG! No power. Carb was cleaned, new plugs, and I can't figure out problem. Anyone have an idea? Please help before AA have to come pick me up!!

Yes, cleaned it. It ran not bad for a bit then went to hell! Almost seemed like it was only runnin on 1 cyl. Is it possible it maybe getting to much oil?

Have you looked at the plugs? Is the exhaust system clogged? Do you have a sticking float? Restriction in the airbox?
Not much to go on here, can you tell us more about it?
The plugs will help you determine if it is getting too much oil.

Plugs were new, pulled them and they looked kinda wet. Exhaust and air box are good. Float- had carb apart and was cleaned up. All looked good. How are those oil pumps set? Probably on the cable, but what kinda spec are we looking at?

Do a compression check, and check the quality of spark.
Did you check the float height when you cleaned the carb?
It seems as if you are getting fuel, just not igniting it very well. So either you are getting to much fuel, the spark is too weak or intermittent, the compression drops after it gets warm, or something is wrong with the fuel - oil mixture.
Is the oil cable adjusted and in place?

Never did a comp test, I am going to check oil cable adj also. Float height good. Just kinda funny that it ran good for a bit. Frustrating! No, not from Fredricton. From Manitoba.

I like to warm them up on a stand, and then watch them very closely under acceleration. It is hard to put much load on them without a dyno, but at least you can tear into it immediately if the problem shows up. A lot harder to do out in the field.

I know, I will check a few things in the next few days.

Make sure the carb float ( floates ) test in a bowl. Or fuel pump has a leak in diaphram leaking gas back into crankcase.

I put a carb on from another 300 and it seemed to run alot better. I never ran it too far as the air box wasn't installed yet. I hope this cures the problem. Thanks for advise guys.

You may need a new needle valve or your floats are sinking. You can test like vt700 says by filling the bowl while it is off the carb. The kitchen sink makes a good place to do this.

Tried the carb- same reuslt. Had a second engine- swapped and guess what? Same damn thing. The only thing I haven'ttried was a different fuel pump. Gonna try and see.
