Last year I read a article about removing the forward boggie wheel to save on weight on a 02MM 700. I then put ice scratchers in its place using these holes. But since doing this it appears that I have worn through the Hifax at the forward bend of the skid. Has anyone else done this mod and encountered this problem.

Since I have to replace this now what are my options on Hifax's.
1. Stock Hifax
2. Hiperfax from MPI (anyone use this, Pros vs Cons). This seems to be very costly compared to the stock ones.
3. ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Removing wheels may help save a few LBS for MTN riders. I saw people do it all the time when I was living out west but I think they may be using them hyperfax or graphite hyfax what ever they are called. You can try doing this but IMO, when I was out west, it just didnt seem right to take my wheels of and hope there is snow getting in there. I actually put the low snow wheels on the curve of the rail to help resist wear where they wear the most in those low snow condidtions until I got to the good stuff.

You can try running them and see how it goes.
