I got a 2000 srx its my first yamaha sled. Everything is just awsome about the sled, but there is vibration I feel, that I am not sure is normal or not.
I feel a vibration on the left side of the sled that is there under slow to moderate acceleration. When I am accelerating hard and fast the vibration is gone and the sled feels silky smooth. I do not feel the vibration through the handle bars.

Things I have checked and replaced:
-New drive axle bearings as I had to change track.
-New clutch belt

I noticed secondary clutch is loose on jackshaft about .080 clearance beetween shims and outer sheave. According to the service manual this is within spec.
The vibration leaves when I just coast on the sled with no throttle.

I love the sled, I just wish it felt silky smooth no matter how I am on the throttle.
If any of you guys can help me out it would be appreciated. Thanks

inspect the jack shaft bearing remove secondary clutch and see if you have any up and down movment on the shaft there is something changing under light load

Ok I will inspect the bearing more closely.
Should there be a shim between the secondary clutch and the jackshaft bearing? Right now there is only 3 shims on outside of secondary where the bolt is.
Also to me it seems the secondary floats too much on the jackshaft. Could this be also possible cause?

Check your bearings in your idler wheels, and i if you are running studs check thoses and your inside track lugs incase any are missing.

Try this

The secondary is within spec, leave it alone....just make sure the offset and center to center is correct. CHANGE YOUR BELT. When a belt gets smoked in one spot it will create this exact scenario.

The jackshaft bearing appears to be fine, no play or binding.
I do not have studs on the track and am running with a one inch lug.
Front heat exchanger an protecters are not loose.
When I changed the track I checked and changed any worn bearing on idler wheels on suspension all wheels are fine.
I have to say when I was loading the sled on my trailer I did get stuck and slightly burnt the belt. I did inspect it, It seems fine, but I could be wrong.
What should I be looking for on the belt?
Also is it possible my crankshaft is twisted, what symptoms woul I have with a twisted crank.
As I said teh engine runs smooth at high speed and I have no lose in power.
I will try another belt and tell you guys if it makes a difference.
I feel the floor board vibrating through my boot.

I forgot to mention, That I had the vibration even with my previous track. So I did not do anything wrong with the instalation. When I did smoke the belt it was loading the sled on my trailer during the summer brand new belt.
Could a split second of smoking it have already damaged the belt?
Its a new machine for me, I have only drove it this winter. So I do not know what is normal.

I would agree it's very possible that it's a smoked belt... but one more thing to check would be the primary clutch cover bushing showed in this picture.

If it's too loose, you will get that vibration, you'll also get a surprise on at least one clutch weight.

This is what can happen if you don't find it in time. Notice where the weight got hot and wore down about 1/16 of an inch... bad news.

Good luck finding the problem.

drive shaft bent or maybe cracked, mine was vibrating and i believe it was cracked for a while and finally let loose and ook out the chain case, the shaft was broken right behind the right side drive cog....CP

I tried a new belt and it solved the problem.

Thank you very much guys, for all your advice.

Cheers, wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
