Pulled my 02 viper skid tonight and noticed it needs alot of work. Shocks need to be rebuilt, lots of bearing bad. On my second W arm and its showing sign of fatigue again. By the time I fix all that stuff and add rail extension to make it a 136, I figure I would just swap it for something else. I found a m-10 136 for $525. And edge 136 Skids for $495. Which one would be better? I figure I'll be close to these prices by the time I get that No-Action skid back to where it should be. I will be trail ridding it alot but also like to play in the powder and jump on ocasions. Maybe those of you that have made the swap could help me out? Thanks.

don't know about the edge, but I love my M10. Was 136" new, but just stretched to 151" with TracksUSA rail extensions. It has been on the sled for 5 years - just did a complete overhaul this year - shock rebuild, rail tips, bearings & replaced bent rear "H" arm. It takes a beatin pretty good.

Anyone else have any opions on which skid frame to use?
Would like to try and pick it up this weekend.

Both my viper and my sons have the M-10. Mine 121 his 136 and we love the M-10. Once you have it set-up for your style of riding it works great.

I have an 05 121" edge in my srx and just love it. I put the edge in because the price was right $250. I was looking at M-10's but the prices were to high for me $500-600. I would say if you can find an edge for a lot less money then go with the edge, but if they are the same price go with the m-10.

The M-10 you found, what sled did it come out of. I ask because I put in one in a SRX and each manufacurer has different width tunnels and you could have some hidden costs

even when I bought my M10 directly from Fast, the spindles that came with the mounting kit were too narrow. I had to make some 1/4" thick aluminum shims for each side

The m-10 is from a polaris sled I believe. Thats the other thing on the m-10, I think I still will need to buy a mounting kit which run will run me another 200. Unless I don't need it? not sure?

You may just need the cross shafts and the tunnel support plates.

Can you post pics of what you have for the M10?

I haven't bought it yet, thats why i was wondering which skid to go with m-10 or edge? Tracksusa is where Im going get it from.

Either way IMO you'll have to do some machine work and if you feel OK with that then a M10 will not disappoint.
Measure the width of your tunnel, should be about 622mm. Get the widths of the two skids you're looking at. For the M10 you'll need two new cross shafts of correct length, that along with the torque arm and tunnel support plate equals the width of your tunnel. You also need four spacers that go over the shafts. Front and rear swing arm tubes are narrower than shafts. You also need a tunnel template to locate front shaft center line to drive axle.
For the Edge the templates are avail in the Tech section. If its a full shaft across the front, then you'll need the correct length along with two bushings to keep skid from moving lateral. If it is bolted like AC then IMO pull out the sleeves and have new made that includes the spacing needed. It may look like a lot, but remember what our parents said. Anything worth doing is worth doing well (need some humor on these type projects). Where are you at?

I errored on the polaris templates being in Tech. Somebody in an old post had the numbers for the edge and Pro-X.

Do a search for edge suspension. You'll see a post by Johnnysrx "Edge suspension in". Page two #14 has a link to JBshock that gives dims

either one...really can't go wrong...there much better than the no action system...there is a trade off...a little loss of top end, hook up...all depends on what you want...remember you can't get a corvette to ride like a caddy & you can't get a caddy to rail like a vette...I have M10 in a 03 viper...I like...my bud has a X in a 02 srx...I like...all I know is I have two used skids in my shed...rusting...cheers...oh! forgot to mention, now I ride all day & most of the night...without a back issue...now if I can only get the wife to stop nagging...It would be a perfect sport...

Thats for the info, I got the dim. for the edge skid if i go that direction. I don't mind having to make shims or bushing cause im a machinist, so that will be easy. where do I get the dim. for the m-10 locations? From the Fast web site?

The best would be the tunnel template from where you are getting the skid and no to the Fast site. Rotate your axle so that where two flats meet is vertical(apex). From that point to the front shaft center is 120mm on the horizontal and down 2mm. Center punch and drill a small hole in the frame. Find the center of the bolt connecting torque arm to shaft and drill small hole 2mm deep. Use these holes to locate skid in tunnel. When you locate the tunnel support plates, you want to keep the top edge // to top of tunnel. The plate will not mount flush to tunnel due to interference from rivets attaching heat exchangers. IMO remove any rivets and carefully cut where needed to insure flush fit to tunnel.

I had an M10 in my 02 Polaris 700 classic and I put an edge skid in my 2000 Indy 500.I preferred the edge suspension of the two.Main reason was the edge skid rides almost as good, and has better weight transfer and resistance to bottoming. Also, they are generally considerably cheaper. But ,the M10 is still gonna be a huge improvement....it is a very cushy ride....
