I want to build a sled (non-4stroke) with a 136" suspension to run the fields of western Minnesota. Any suggestions as to which model to start with?

Yamaha tunnel/frame etc., cc's depends on weight/HP ratio. which by default with Yamaha would put me at a 700 triple and then the ? would be PV/non-PV. The $ outlay is to be minimal. Shallow pockets
Any thoughts to stuffing another manufacturer's twin in say a viper.

Why would you even think of putting a twin in a viper when it comes with a triple? Get a SRX a put a 136" Expert X or M-10 under it. It all depends on how much $ you want to spend.

I have a 200 SRX w/M-10 (121"). The why is I wanted a project and I have a viper (minus motor) to start with to build a light weight sled along with a 136" torsion arm suspension and 1.25" ripsaw track. For motor I think the 140 hp SRX is the better choice over a 120 hp viper. No need to buy pipes, no cooling issue. I also know that there are twins out there making more than 120 hp.

For lake or field running i'd go with a Vmax 4 with a better skid, m10 or something. They can usually be found cheeper than a srx or viper. I just love the sound of those 4 cylinders. Makes people wander whats coming.

Mich, so are you asking if you can stuff your SRX motor into the viper chassis and extend it? I think it has been done on this site before.

haha i would NEVER x-country a v-max, even triples are the wrong direction guys these sleds are gonna throw this guy around in xc.... go for a twin, my advice. A 2001-2002 ZR LE, or CCE than get the shocks rebuilt and new clickers on the back or a Firecat Sno-pro...
