If the gearing formula says a 1.86 ratio, wouldn't a 20/37 combo accelerate quicker than a 21/39.

I am going to say that those setups are almost identical. They should perform the same.

The 20/37 is 1.85 and the 21/39 is 1.86 (1.8571). I've read that the smaller the top gear the more "resistance" there is for the chain to wrap around the smaller tighter gear so maybe the 21/39 would actually be better?

Have you ridden the trails up north lately. Decent or chewed up.

I just got my sled back together and I haven't been out riding yet. I am going to guess that they are in fair condition as long as the wind hasn't messed them up.
