After getting my sled running again I took a little spin last night(34 slow trail miles) Ive had an ongoing clutch issue since last year and I was thinking I may have a likely culprit. Basically what happens is when I go to take off my clutch doesnt grab the belt very hard. And while riding last night it was overreving like crazy at slow speeds. Onc e I got onto it a bit it seem to get better. I constantly smell belt while taking off too so I know my belt is slipping. I would have posted pics but couldnt find my clutch puller so untill then Ill have to explain. Last year I had the same issue but this year its a lot worse. Ive had this set up on here before and it hauled ***. With the hood open watching the clutch engage and it does not move very much. Looking at the shaft on the inside of the primary spring there is quite a bit of surface rust. Would that in any way effect things? What are your experiences?

I don't think it would, as long as the bearing is good, and not seized or rusted inside. I had some surface rust on the shaft and around the bearing of the secondary, and just wiped it all off and put some grease on it, it has not caused any issue's.

After letting the penetrating oil work into the surface rust I was able to slide the spider and cover on the primary over a couple of inches. I put my old belt on and PUt about 35 more miles with almost no slippage. I can now hear the clutch grabbing the belt and when I backshift I can here it dissengage. The shaft needs to be cleaned more but I cant find my darn clutch puller anywhere. After running it awhile its like a whole diff. machine. Im so much happier now. When I find my puller Im going to get the clutch parts out and hopfully someone can tell me what I have for parts in it. I dont if there heavy hitters or what. SInce lack of snow last year i was having the same problem not shifting out all the way. I really need to get an emory cloth or somting to shine up that shaft. SOmeone out there must have experienced this in some point in there life.
