Does anyone know the specs on a red bender spring......I have a bender clutch kit and my engagement is at 4500 and I would like to try to get it down to about 4000. I am not running studs!!!

Are you sure the colour is RED, they make a solid Orange colour spring that is 55 kg preload and 135 kg. total force shift out. This orange spring is in alot of their SRX clutch kits, unless it is a heel klicker kit than it use's a red HC spring. Hope this helps, Dave

No, it is what is your enagaement speed based upon how heavy the clutch weights are/profile, and it also determines your shift rpm, the lighter the spring the lower your engagement speed and the lower your shift rpm will be.

So what do I have to do to get my engagement rpms down......What is the most efficient way???? I have a bender clutch kit with a 51/45 helix with a green spring wrapped to 80 and 8dg-00 weights with a red spring(maybe orange-ish red).....I am not sure what rivets are in them. My rpms from a start jump to about 8200-8300 and finish at wot to about 8400-8500 depending on snow conditions. The only problem I am having is the engagement is at 4500.....specs say it should be about 4000.....Is it worth changing???? Or am I being anal???? I do have a vector that I would like to give a run for its money.......
Thanks guys!!!!!!!

I know I am hitting close to target rpms.....does engagement matter all that much???????

Your engagement at 4000 rpm's will help you out of the hole, your belt will grab earlier and your track may not spin out as harsh as it would if your engaement was higher.

The easiest way to get your engagement rpm's down is to go with a spring with a lower preload say from 55 to 50 or even 45 kg. That way your shift out rpm will remain the same. Yamaha makes a Grn/Wh/Grn primary spring that has an engagement of 45kg and a shift out of 137kg, close to the Bender spring at shift out but lower engagement. If you do have a Bender Orange spring just remember to take out the 8mm shim out under the spring before you put the Yamaha spring in.
