Hi guys, quick question about the 700 SRX motor. I am a big fan of the sled but have noticed that most of the 700 SRX's I see no matter how many miles are on them have been rebuilt? Do they have some problems or is it just to upgrade internals. Just wondering, I would like to get one.

I think it's allot of people that don't know how to maintain a srx, you need
to run premium fuel, watch jetting, run the right plugs,etc,etc...

to many people just point and shoot, no maintenance at all

I rebuilt mine this year with 7500 miles on it. Still looked new inside, but you could tell it was lacking some power. Just keep it stock and clean your powervalves every now and then. Don't listen to all these people who will try and sell you on amsoi and such other oilsl. Ive run nothing but yamalube in my sled, and ive never had problems with powervalves. I just put new pistons and such in it and yamalube it gets again for another 7,000 miles.

they are very dependble just have to be serviced right use good oil and service power valves i service cust and if they take care of them they are great

Ok

Thanks for the responses. I'm used to running polaris sleds. Put fuel and oil in them and run for ever so it surprised me to see 3 out of 5 with rebuilt motors. It wasnt going to deter me from buying one just wanted to know. Thanks again everyone.

Oddly, out of all the guys I snowmobile with [including 3 Polaris's, although I suspect the problems were due to adding pipes and improper jetting], the only ones that have never been apart are the Yammies. The SRX is the 4th Yamaha that I've owned and I've never had a problem with any of them [other than the 89' Exciter that I burned a piston on due to the previous owner gutting the airbox and not re-jetting] I still have my old 89' Phazer, 23,151km's and still going strong, I don't use it much anymore, just keep it around for anyone that needs a sled when we go out. Although I should pull the old girl apart one of these days and go through it. Still have my old 1980 ET300 too, although I haven't the foggiest as to how many miles are on it. My EX440 had a little over 19,000kms on it when I sold it. I only had one Polaris, a 79' Appolo 340, and never had a problem with it either. As other's have said, if you treat them properly, the Yammies will go forever.

mine has 11000 km, never rebuilt yet. I just clean the power valves a couple times a year. She is still running very strong

The only reason I had mine rebuilt was because I tried to mess with it. Keep it stock and it will rock. Mine is totally stock except for the clutching and it stays right with my 07 apex rtx but that has no clutch work done to it.

just rebuilt mine, had 10 000km on the motor so i decided it was time, wasnt needed, still ran like a top before i took it apart. These motors are amazing, along with the rest of the sleds, all yammies are. #1 for quality and workmanship in my books

I posted about this earlier, I am going to roll over 7000 this season and plan on doing the top end this summer. I am still deciding if I am going to have it ported or not.
