Thinking of putting a skid plate on the SRX...

Do most of you guys run them?

If so, what brand/manufacturer?

Thanks!

Please God, :letitsnow

mine saved my arse last year when I hit some piled up ice....i actually landed the sled in this jagged crap, and the skid plate took it all....loosened the rivets mind-you, but saved my bacon.......embarassed to say I forget the manufacturer, but in the sig you can how it looks

well worth the $$$ IMO

i run an oem on my nytro i thought it was of scetchy quality, when i took it out of the box it was warped and twisted. and when i installed it it went on hard the back two bolts did'nt line up for crap and i think i ruined the nutserts when i finally got the bolts to go in. i'll find out in the spring when i change the oil i guess. front four bolt could'nt have fit better they fell into place, and yes i left all the fasteners loose so it could be tweaked to help line it up.

here's a better shot

I have the Yamaha Ultra II skid plate on mine. I like the looks of those Holeshot too but I think those are smaller. I'll post a pic in a minute.

just a side not. i have a 2001 srx and got a new to me OEM yamaha skid plate but with no instructions on how to install. rivets? on the bottom side? i dont want to drill into something i shouldnt...

I have the instructions and I can send them to you if you want them. Mine came with rivets and bolts and you could either use the bolts or the rivets in some of the holes but I forgot which ones. If you want me to send them to you let me know and I will in about a half an hour. If it's even the same one I have...?

4 rivets on the plastic belly, and 3 across the back metal...check the skid plate itself, aren't there bungs moulded into the plate, like 7 of them?

Mine had the locations moulded into the plastic itself, so it was just a matter of holding it up, and drilling out the holes

Exactly, that is my issue with the Holeshots. When you look at the pics of Holeshot plates, some colors are the shorter/smaller style, others are longer. Also, the ones that are longer in the pics (black and blue) look like they don't have the same "frontal coverage" as the Yamaha plates. The short ones look like they have the same "frontal coverage", but they are not as long... Why?

Anyway, I think I will go with the Yamaha plate. The only problem is, which one?

Yamaha offers THREE different plates. I've narrowed it down to the "Ultra" or "Full Coverage", but I'm not sure what the difference is between the two.

Anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks!

I have a blue one if you are interested. I would have to look but I think it is a Holeshot Yamaha one that is the shorter coverage under the sled.

I think the difference between the Ultra and the Ultra II is the II covers the entire bottom of the bulkhead. I think the Ultra just goes a few inches back or so.
