500 vmax = descent

600 vmax = horrible
Tom Your right, my 97 Twin is not really any better than my Buddies 94 on Gas...he has a smaller tank, so it seems like I get better, but when you break it down to KM's per Litre, we are very close. I might get a little better, but not enough to complain about.

What do the 700 Tripple's get in Comparison? Like a Viper and a say a Red Head 700 Trip?

My SX-R 700 gets 11-12 or so trail riding AT BEST of course less if I'm just out playing. Thats with CPR pipes (150 mains, 47.5 pilots, needles one richer than stock), thin head gaskets, reed spacers and a 1.25 camoplast hanging from CB Perf drop brackets

wow not much better then really....Mind you I'm sure you lost some fuel economy piping it

I'm willing to sacrifice a couple miles per gallon for triple pipes ANY day though. Besides who goes snowmobiling being concerned about how your mileage is, unless you're touring. The way I see it, if you want a fast powerful sled, more times than not, it's not going to be the "Geo Metro" of the sled mileage world.

"96" 600ST with twin GYT pipes was about 71/2 - switched back to single pipe and rejetted this year and with some top end loss is about 9mpg - can't seem to hit the double numbers others do. B.

The one I have used to get 6mpg. I tried many things. The ones that seems to work for me: Thin head gasket mod, pilots at 45 and (believe it or not) the Fitch Fuel Catalyst. Total gain was about 4 mpg and the best part was it ran so much better.
Just my 2 cents

I remember there was an update on the '95 600. They had to shim the needle. Might want to talk to a dealer and see if they have any notes from way back when.

Are you refering to this kit? I bought this one when I installed my GYT pipes and never used it as it must have already been done. My sled had the exact same part numbers installed in it already. It is supposed to increase fuel mileage and performance. A VX6 Carb Slide Kit, that is what the Yammie dealer told me. I can't find any info on it anywhere. Here is the part number 90891-50127 does anyone have any info on this?

How would that increase fuel mileage?

you got all that in the kit,new slides, etc.?

I'm not sure how. The dealer told me it had something to do with the slides binding or the way they flow air. He wasn't actually to sure himself. A younger fella. I can't find any info on it anywhere. Must be top secret. :dunno:

yup thats the way I got it. A spring, slides, needles, clips and two white washers.

I was going to install that in my 600 when I did the pipes but it already had the exact same thing in there already.

There is another number hand written on the box 3B82, IIRC thats the needle. It's been a while since I looked at the needle in my sled but I remember that number/or similiar.

Ok thanks...just wondering, back in the day when we picked up my brothers
'94 max the guy said his dealer updated the carbs to '95's, he didn't know
what it was either, must work because he gets ok mileage with it, compared to my '95 there real close..

Everybody keeps telling you to mess with the carbs but that wont really do anything for you.The xt has differant clutching and gearingThat gives you more low end torque. It is great for powder and making trail.I had a 500 and a 600, both got the same milage both ran @100 topped out.my 94 runs @110 and will eat the xt's on hard pack.when you get to powder or fresh snow it is just to the opposite. If you want better fuel milage change the gearing. There is alot of older bullitins with everyone complaining on the 96 xt.I averaged @50-65 miles to the tank.My 94 ,95 97,and 98 get 100-130 miles to the tank.

the carb update kit you are referring to was for the 94 500 and 600,s that had inconsistant engine idle and ignition misfire when letting off the throttle there were two different kits. 1 for the 500 and 1 for the 600 and yes fleetman50127 was for the 600 and p#50128 was for 500

Daman I took the sled out this weekend to see how it ran after cleaning tank, pump and replacing the filter. It seemed to run ok, I only got 20 miles on it and had to come back, sons sled overheating. Ran 20 miles and added 2.1 gallons. Seems like I am getting close. Once I get out and test it out I will get back to you. Thanks for all the information.

We ran saturday,my brother in law had his '96 XT6 he was filled when we
left we did a round trip of around of 80ish miles, he said around 10ish going
(busting new trails)fueled up and on the way back hard/soft pack trail he
got 11+!!!

so your getting there,if you could get a solid 10+ - 11 would be great..
