Guys,

I am picking up a super mint 79 440 exciter with low miles.

I cant wait to have my sweet sled I had as a teenager!!!!

Ill post pics when I get it. I am picking it up in 2 weeks. the price has been agreed upon and I just have to go get it.

TOM NICE. GREAT SLED. REALLY ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATS FROM YAMAHA. RUN FOR EVER !! VERY COOL THEY HAD SAME STRIPES AS SRX. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Yes Tony, It looks just like the 79 440 SRX.. I hope to find some dual carbs and gonna see what Mrviper reccomends for porting and head work.

I but it from a member on this site. Ill try and find pics he took of it from way back.

I just hope nobody makes fun of me if I ride it at the TY ride next year. 30 year old sled and still lookin good and runnin with the rest of them.

Here it is. From a TY member

I had a 80? very cool sled, bullet proof, fast, me and
my brother always raced, he has(still)a 83 SS440, good little sleds.

hell yea, i'd run her on the TY ride, watch the people look.

Tony,

Did they make big bore for these sleds? Could I outfit some 643 sylinders on this thing?

Or is there anyway I can put bigger discplacement cylinders on this?

Exciter

I asked this last week. The boys told me to teart the case down and have the upper half flycut to fit a set of 485 phazer jugs on it. If you want to run the exciter tins you will need to relocate the spark plug holes. Also becareful as for the factory exciter fan doesnt push an over abundance of air.

I bought the sled, I just have to pick it up when I get back to the states.

I have a bunch of ideas or imiginations on makis this a sleeper. I as wondering if adding base gaskets abd cutting heads would add power

Is it possible that the other fan models had a bigger fan that will fit on the exciter capable of pushing more air?

If you want to play with it, I suggest pulling the stock motor (keeping the stock motor origional in case you want to put it back to stock) Put in a 535 from a SRV, trail port, single or twin pipes, reeds, single or twin 38 or 40 mill carb, should be one decent sleeper.
