[I went to order a primary spring for my sons 600 sxr today for the Black hills elevation and the guy behind the counter thought I would be wasting my money. He suggested that since I was dropping a tooth on my drive gear that I should just wind my secondary tighter ond I would have the same effect as changing the spring. I don't know alot about clutching but have been reading the tech sections on it and realize that its a lot of trail and error. I have always just changed my clutch weights and spring to the elevation of the hills and have successful luck in doing so. I read on one of the forums that by dropping just one tooth one the drive that it seems to make the OE settings to be a little better and not so drastic that you have to play with the weights and springs. Any input would be great. Thanks Mike

You could lighten the primary weight 3-4 grams & that is probably the best way to do it. Anyone that tells you to control rpm,s by monkeying with the secondary ain,t a knowledgably clutching guy. If your running stock primary clutching & revving 9k rpm allready your probably gonna be perfect at 8500 rpm up there anyway. The 600 triples had a bad overrev with stock clutching.
