I'm helping out my brother-in-law put together a 89 exciter he bought over the summer, just wondering if someone knows the HP ratings of the exciter motors from '87-'91 steel liners and '92-'93 nikasil coated motors? Just curious how they would match up against the v-max 540 motor! THANKS!
No info. on HP of these motors!?!
87 to 90 exciter was 77 hp at 7250RPM.91 to 93 exciterII was77 at 7500 RPM and 93 exciter sx was 93 hp at 7750 rpm

I have owned a new 88 Exciter and a 1990 plus many Vmax's and for the most part the Exciter's usually holds their own from ~ 0-40 m.p.h. and then the 540 takes off and it's all over......

For the Vmax From my website with permission from Dyno Tech. I have a 1987 magazine article that shows the Exciter to be ~75 hp. so, Ramblnman is right !
