seat cover, or different seat

a friend of mine has a vmax like mine, 2001. His seat is ripped. Where can he get a cover like oem? Also will a viper seat fit, (the whole seat not just cover), on our style sled?
 

the basic sx chassis seat that is on the vmax's, and I think phazers. Here is a pic of a two up like mine, same style only mine doesnt have the back seat, it is a one up.

He can get an OEM cover from Yamaha.

Check RichieRich here and some of the discount dealers - Port Yamaha is one. There is probably one nearer to you for a cheaper shipping cost, search here or a web search.
Tell him to sit down when they tell him the price.

I'll check into some places around here and see some prices. Thank you for your help!!

"Tell him to sit down when they tell him the price." that statement is why I was wondering if it would be possible to change to a viper seat on a vmax with minimal mods. I kinda want to do the same.

If anyone knows if a viper seat can be worked out to fit a sx vmax sled let me know, thanks!

no local people that will recover it? a buddy looked into it, found a guy here locally that was gonna completely redo his seat, recover and new wood on on the bottom and all, 2 up seat for 200.....not bad. But he ended up just finding a used seat for 90$.

Keep your eye out for a good condition used, or look for a local leather shop that can recover it for him. I don't think a Viper seat would fit, but many years Vmax or SX seat should I believe.....

If the rest of the seat is in good shape, an upholstery shop can just replace the piece that is ripped. They may not be able to match the texture or color exactly, but if the price is right and he does not mind....
It should be done with cold weather vinyl.
