I'm tuning in my Viper and have some questions?? Running 147 147 150 MJ stock pilots needles 1/2 clip richer fuel screw 2 1/4 turns out . Its a little rich off the bottom, 1/4 turn in on the fuel should help this . General plug color exc. I'm running H/C 6 washers on the heel , nothing middle and tip. I'm running HEEL X roller with a 38 degree helix . I started with the red spring back shift seems to suffer. I put in a Erlandson green spring for a ski doo , which I measured 42lbs at 2 inches and 82lbs at 2.5 inches. I think I need a better choice of springs or secondary set up . RPM's star out 8600 climbing 9100 , I feel i'm leaving a fair amount of acceleration& top end on the table.Any suggestons??? thanks Ken

Aaen pipes make better power if kept at 8900 or 8850. I ran a complete differnent set up in mine, but when you get it to shot to 8900 and stay there it will rip. The roller is probaly hurting top speed some. Maxdlx

You should be close on the mains. The Viper carbs have very rich slides so they act rich when you take the vents out of the airbox. I doubt you need the needles up. Airbox stock?

You need to move some weight around, you want it to go to 86 then right to 88-8900, it will pull much better, get some weight out further, you may need to take a little off the bottom then.

As far as the secondary, I've never used the Ski Doo green, but the EPI Polaris green or maroon may be a better choice.

940ken, where are you located? you could probably put needles to stock pos. thats where mine are with same pipes. you want to see 9200 on the tach with those pipes.

I am running Aaen pipes and i had to go bigger on the pilots and the mains. I am running 52 pilots and 152 mains. Even with this setup i have seen the DCS light blink a few times. I am running vforce reeds. I dont know if that makes that much of a difference. I am running HC with 4.5 in the heel, and 3.3 in the tip. I have a 51-37 helix with the stock green spring. This is the setup Mr.Viper suggested. It is good. I could go with a little less tip wieght. I am only seeing about 8700 on the tach. Super fast, but real bad on gas...

oh yea and i forgot to mention that i have the carbs vent outside the airbox. that makes a big difference.

I went out tonight installed a green spring wrapped 60 as per mr viper . HC's 3 washers long bolt in heel nothing else middle or tip , also running 50/38 helix . Runs out pretty good ! RPM's depending on snow start 8700 +- climbs to 8900+- What do you think??? :letitsnow

sounds good! i am taking the pipes off tonight. Great fun to ride, but trying to find a gas station every 80 miles is getting old. I will put them back on for radar runs and then in summer!

YEP!! The power is great , with my sko doo skid its best sled i've ever had!! Last time out 8.2 mpg. with some hard riding , corner to corner blasting like dirt bike riding!!!! I still would like more mpg's . I would like to know how much I could get out it cyl. & case porting & different head tirple pipes and single pipe . My options are open. :2strokes:
