Ok, this will be a little long. I bought my SXR 700 in the summer, and when I first had it out I was really impressed with the power mostly out of the hole and mid range.

Some of you may have read my post about being smoked by 2 XC700's and a ZR600. The thing is, the first time out I beat the ZR 3 times straight and was pretty close to the XC (clutched and jetted).

The machine seems to be running well but I really feel that it lost the bottom end snap. At first I thought I was just getting used to the power but when I lost to the ZR I started to wonder. The belt was sitting about a mm below the top of the secondary so I put on a new one. No difference.

The only thing I have changed is I loosened the preload on the rear shock to the med. setting 2.75" it was at 4" the front shock was at the med. setting already about 3.5" so I left it. I loosened the preload on the 2 front shocks (skies) to a little looser than the recommended soft setting to 4.25"

The adjustements I made made a hudge difference in the ride as it was real stiff before.

So here is the question are these adjustements causing it to not hook up out of the whole as good as before or is it more likely that I'm just used to the pull of the machine?

Thanks guys

The belt is only supposed to be .5mm below the top of the secondary maximum. The spec for it is -.5mm (below the top) to 1.5mm (above the top). You need to adjust it.

think of your rear center shock as a pivot for transfer. if you loosen this spring preload you will lose transfer or rocking back to the rear for drag hookup....for drags you need more upper gap on you transfer rods this lets the skid rock back "more" also with a softer preload on the rear skid shock think squat or roll back....experiment and when you hook up for drags your trail ride will not be as good, that is why companies sell adjustable transfer rods check out pioneer...to adjust the gap to play and then put it back to ride.....good luck....CP

No that wasn't me. Just the rear shock preload and the front shocks over the skies.
