i just traded my 2nd sled (98 700 sx) for a 98 srx 700sx

is there anything special i should look at?

sled has 1300 miles on it with ohlins on it. i went over it well just wondering if there were any recalls and what not.

also when you put on the high beams all the lights, tach, die, only with high beams. bad ground?

also he said he would fowl plugs, i think its because hes running br9es, i know on my buddys he has to run br9ecs? (thats what i think it is) anyone else experience this?

thanks, any advice would be great. i know a ton about non powervalves but im pretty new to the powervalve 7's.

oh and 119 PSI in each cylinder.

Br9ecs plugs are more likely to foul but less likely to detonate. You should only run the br9ecs in the srx. I have gotten away with runing the br9es only for emergencys when you cant get any on the trail but you need to change them out asap. As for fouling plugs My 99 srx 7 has only fouled probably 3 plugs in the 4 years Ive owned it and its seems to only do it when I go riding in deep fresh powder. Lastly I would think that you must have a rub through in your wiring harness causing it to ground out when you hit the lights, just a guess. You need to take your pipes off and pull the cable from under the motor. Tie a wire or string to the harness so you can feed it back under the engine once your done checking it over. HOpe this helps a bit.

Like yamyrider said check the crank..

take the VIN number to your dealer and have 'em run it to see if it's been
updated..

check power valves out/clean adjust..give a good going over.

called on the recall and ran the vin and he said something was done in 98 but it didnt say what. he said the number was 99700 or soemthing. does that mean anything?

I called Yamaha direct when I bought my 98 SRX a couple weeks ago, they gave me the month, year, and what dealer it was done at, I would just call Yamaha if I were you. You can get their # on their website.
