So as some of you know I'm doing a rebuild on a viper, today I was putting the motor back into the sled and after putting the PVs together I was going to adjust them. The servo is supposed to pull the PVs OPEN when you turn the key on right? (viper ER) And the cables are supposed to go around the bottom side of the servo pulley and wrap around the back right? Well when I pulled the cover off I found that the cables were installed around the TOP of the pulley instead, which means that there was a ton of slack making them nonfunctional, and if my thinking is correct would have made the PVs work in the opposite direction?

Anyways could someone tell me how to get the cables on right? I have the service manual but it didn't seem that clear to me and I want to get it right. Which cable goes in which hole on the pulley? there are 2 sets of holes to attach the cables.

I guess I went 500 miles last year with no functional powervalves, and I still thought it had awesome power. I can't believe it, whoever had this thing before me had no clue. I wonder what it'll be like with powervalves lol

RTYsxv: Brother, I feel for you. The manual (mine anyway) is a piece of you know what....I wish I could help you but I have an SRX 700, and the easy way to adjust the valves on it is to turn the idle down to 900, and the servo opens wide. When you say that yours should do it when you turn the key, it throws me because mine does not even have a battery, like you rich dudes.... anyway, my cables go into different slots/grooves on the servo wheel for no apparent or logical reason. Also, the wheel has slots that remain unused to add to the confusion. They probably wanted to make a "one wheel fits all sleds" wheel. Anyway, do not despair. I am told that most runners have non functioning or marginally functioning PV's, and don't even know it. I myself am running with one missing cable, as it had to be ordered in. Be patient and, assuming you've searched for your problem, you may have to post again but you will be amazed at the experience and knowledge you will be able to pull out of TY. Keep in mind that some of the members have so much experience that they will take for granted that you already have certain knowledge. I have found that once they realize that you do not, they walk you through it at a slower pace. Good luck.

So I'm getting that cable 1 is in the inside groove, cable 3 in the middle, and cable 2 on the outside. Then cable 3 attaches in the forward set of holes while the others attach in the holes behind? I have that exact manual I wasn't sure on this though.

This is for both SRX and Viper

No:1-cable is the (top) cable in the servo and goes the the PTO cyl.

No:2-cable goes in the next hole down(middle) cable in the servo and goes to the middle cyl.

No:3-cable is the very (bottom) cable in the servo and that one goes to the MAG cyl. (longest cable)

now as far as the cable holder it goes 3-on the (botton),2-next (middle),1-
on (top).

as as far as the grooves in the pully on the servo motor thats,1-(closes) in to the servo motor,2-out side groove,3-middle groove..

wraping counter clockwise on the pully

just cleand and adjusted my powervalves find the link here is tells a lot. dont think you servo will work when you turn the key though. there should be a small white connector near the servo motor you have to apply 12v to this to get the servo to turn and your key has to be on position. if the servo does not move turn clockwise 1/4 turn. then apply 12v again . you servo works with rpm basically opens at wot to let exaust out. closes at low rpm to let rev quicker. hopefull helps out

Be careful with adding power to any plug...if not enough experience with it, a few here already zapped their CDI boxes...use the idle down method...mark reference points on the drum & housing for open & close...then just use a adjustable pliers to turn for the next time you need to adjust...cheers
