I have an 01 srx 700 and the drive belt seems to be sitting too low in the secondary clutch. I have tried a new belt and the top of the belt sits flush with the top edge of the sec. I was wondering if this is where I should be sitting. To me it seems wrong. any suggestions and advice on what to do???? I am running stock spring with a hauck helix.

the secondary(in that area).
if not and your sitting to low from what your saying you need to remove the
secondary and pull out a shim washer from the three bolts on the back.
What he said ^^^ !!
As long as your center to center is correct, I like to set mine up so the track creeps while the rear end is up in the air.

Thanks Daman, I have removed three washers already that were on the back side of the sec. From the spec sheets you posted it seems normal to me then.

I bought a new belt, it sat just right in the secondary but squelled like crazy. I didn't check the center to center, but the belt would only push down like 1/2". I threw my old belt on and it was fine. Holding the 2 belts tight next to eachother, the new one was shorter???? Do they stretch that much???
is it a oem belt ??yamaha one

If it's too low you have to add spacers/shims, not take them out.
