Surge Tank Yamaha Exciter

Looks like it replaces the standard overflow bottle (surge tank) in the cooling loop, but I'm not sure why you'd need that much capacity (it looks at least twice the volume), unless you're engine is a full mod.

If I remember correctly they are supposed to eliminate the air in the cooling system. Many were used when the front heat exchanger was removed to restore the coolant capacity. It mounts near the overflow bottle but does not replace it.

interestings as I was considering removing the front heat exchanger but I didnt know how it would affect the cooling system. anyone have any more info about this item?

Dont do anything with the coolig system...

All the times i heard of people using surge tanks is for drag racing... and what they do is run the machine with no coolant in it then right when they get back to the pits or wherever their rig is the hook up the surge tank and flush coolant through the engine? Maybe it has more power if there is no coolant to pump.. not quite sure
