green secondary spring comparison??
what is going to be the difference between the green and the stock red sec spring on an 01 srx. I have a 50/44 helix and the 4.5g weights in both holes as well as a wht/wht/wht primary spring.

the green is a little bit stiffer so it will up shift slower and back shift faster, rraise rpm a little if all other settings remain the same.

I went from a red wrapped at 120* to a silver wrapped at 120*, no change in RPM's. I went back to the red, and 70*.....9801srx said:the green is a little bit stiffer so it will up shift slower and back shift faster, rraise rpm a little if all other settings remain the same.
If you did that and didnt change the rpms, you forgot to start the sled up! Seriously, those 2 things would be at least 600-800rpm differnt, not too mention youd be one heck of a storng dude to just wind a silver secondary spring to 120 degrees, I think you maybe are not installing them correctly, 120 on a silver would take all you could do just to get the belt on the sled, it would rev to the moon!!!!

so mr viper do you think it would be an improvement to go with the green rather than red spring speaking in terms of a drag race..
IF I could CONTROL the shift with the red, I would use the red, it will be faster.((keyword here is: CONTROL)) You need only control the shift with the secondary spring, not over power it. Once I get to a point of needing more then 90 degrees, like 100-120 degrees, to control a shift, I usually will bump up to the next rate spring(green) and start off low like 60 degrees and see if I can improve the efficiency any. Your tach and the clutch temps will tell you. ![Winterrules :winterrul :winterrul](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/winterrules.gif)

ive got a 60 wrap now on the red, what is the effect of going to 70/80 or 90 for example
Silver at 120???? No way? My turbo rx-1 ran a silver at 100 & that allmost took 2 guys. No way no how did you run a silver at 120 & had the same rpm,s as a red at 120. Sorry man; i play with these things too much to bite on that one.

To MrViper and Turk...
I bought this spring last season off a member and it took 3 of us to get it set. It did not change my RPM's!!!! I'm not trying to blow smoke up your @sses but this is my story. Maybe this will give some insight to why my srx won't rev above 8000-8100.. MrViper, I still plan to call you, just busy.
It was a pain to get the belt on/off...much easier with the red!

i would think that your engine is way down on power ,your weights are way to heavy or your primary spring is shot to not pull more than 8100 rpm.triple said:To MrViper and Turk...
