I heard someone once say that if you grind off every other spline on your speedo pick up that it will be more accurate. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Does it really work? Then again maybe you wouldn't want to do it cause you wouldn't want to think your really going slower.

Speedo

You will need to grind off 2 teeth.Grind 1 off & then grind off one 180 degrees
from the first one !

No, it doesn't know where the splines are, it just counts how many, on a Viper one off still reads 4 or 5 high at 100 but it's much closer, 2 reads slow.

A gps reads right on most times..... I guess, my question is why would you want to do all of that work when you already know the speedometer is off?

dnale,
I never said I was going to do it, just asking the question. I am in the process of swaping tracks so it off right now anyways. Besides its not hard to pull it off, its 1 bolt.

I was just curious to know why, that's all. I realize everyone doesn't have a GPS or a radar or whatever.

I know all of my automobiles have the speedo off to some degree. My car is off due to the size of tires on it (about 1% for the winter tires and 2% for the summer tires.) My truck is off cause when I put white face guages on I set it about 2 mph higher than what it was (keeps me from speeding a little.)
