Anyone know a good place to buy body rivets? And what type I should buy? I hit a tree bent the trailing arm and the running board where the arm bolts on. I am thinking I will have to remove the mount and foot rest to straighten and reinforce the running board. I have access to a pneumatic rivet gun. Just need rivets. Frickin rain stole all my snow.

I have them

I have the 3/16 multigrip rivets available both in large head and small. These are EXACTLY the same as the OEM yamaha rivets that Yamaha sells for $1.25 each. I sell these rivets for 50 cents each. The 1/4 monobolt rivets for the trailing arm mount you will need to order from Yamaha.......but you don't need many of them.

I plan on reinforcing the mount area with a piece of stainless do you know if the monobolt rivets from the dealer will be long enough?

Yes

The monobolts will be plenty long....and so will the 3/16 rivets that I have. Just so you know, Bender sells a really nice kit for stiffening up the running boards for like $45 that works great for the repair you are making. I have used several of these kits. Use the one you need and save the left over stiffener for the other side or your buddy's sled when he smacks it up. You'll get everything you need with the kit. Check it out. As an added note, I don't use the 1/4" bolts they supply with the kit.....I use 1/4" monobolt rivets from Yamaha and you cant even tell there was a repair done.

Can you post up pics of your rivets???

i would not go aluminum and stay WAY the hell away from steel eventually the heads will rust, stainless on stainless is the only way in my opinion they are harder to find but well worth it, alot stronger, harder and will never rust.

I've been thinking about asking about Yamaha rivets myself. I'd like to buy them from Fastenal since there's one located a few blocks from my house. I'm sure it'd save some money. How do you determine what ones you need exactly? Is there a list anywhere that tells the different sizes Yamaha uses and what for? :bash:

Rivet info

I have attached a photo of the rivets. From left to right....the small head OEM type rivet, half popped, the fully popped, then an actual OEM Yamaha black belly pan/snow flap rivet followed by one of my silver of the same type. Please note that my large head rivets are just slightly shorter but still work great for snow flap & belly pan work. I could not get the large headed ones in black. Yes, its true.....all the info is provided for you to march right down to Fastenal and order them......that is what I did. They are made by Advel Cherry...a branch of the Textron Corporation. These multi grip rivets are called Stavex. I believe they have since changed their website but not long ago when you checked them out on line they actually had a photo of a jet fighter and an SRX pictured with the info on these rivets. Bring your wallet because the small heads need to be ordered in a minimum of 3,000 and the large heads in a minimum of 2,000. As I said.....I will sell either for 50 cents a piece in quantities of 50. I'm not ripping anone off, just trying to recoup SOME of my $$ as I don't think I will be using up 5,000 rivets right away!
