Got a little snow yesturday so i took it out agin to test the speed. A buddy of mine rode next to me just to make sure my spedo gage was working correctly. Once again toped the sled out at around 65mph with a RPM of 8000. Spedo gage was working. The guy who i bought the sled from said the carbs were set at 0 degrees and when i was testing it, it was like 32 degrees. I think i might have a buddy of mine go through it just to make sure. Any ideas once again?
Thanks

make sure motor is making power just because it reving close to what its susposed to does not mean its shifting right inspect for any drag in suspension or anything that can hold sled back i suspect you have a problem in the clutching considering my exciter sx will go 96 in a 1000 feet

Take a black magic marker and make two marks 180 degrees apart on the inside primary sheave from the outside edge in towards the center about an inch or two long. Take her for a spin and see if those marks are still there.

Sounds like your clutching is off, probably worn out. Check your springs and replace if neccessary. Hows the sled sound, does it bog at all, plug color etc...

Dark Choc or lite? They should look like coffee with cream a little darker is not bad, if the sled is jetted for colder it will run richer when its warmer hence darker plug color now. However i think there is something else wrong as it should still go faster.

Take a look at the primary rollers you should be able to see them without taking anything apart. If they have an flat spots or anything then they are shot and should be replaced. Could be a weak spring on the primary or secondary causing in proper shift as well.

Sounds like clutching to me. Check clutch bushings, check the wieghts for notching, if dirty clean them well, don't forget about the secondary, give it a good look over as well. Make sure clutches are aligned.

the gearing is for the 500 not the 600. you might have to switch gears to get some more speed. Look up what gears you need for a 96 600 vs. the 96 500 and let me know what you get.

I had 2 96 xt s one was a 500 and the other was a 600 they both ran 100 and the time was very close to the same rpm would be about 8700 .if the sled has been sitting it is posible for the driven clutch to hang or the belt is wore down so the clutch is not opening up .my 94 le will run 110mph on the lake.
