does anyone know if the secondary off of a viper (part# 8EK00) will work on a '98 600 xtc (part# 8CX00)? I noticed the secondary off my dad's xtc has some nasty gouge marks, where the belt slipped severly once before and tore into the aluminum. I have an extra secondary from my buddies totalled viper sitting here, and got me thinking if I could use it. I know it would probably bolt on fine, but I don't know if the offsets would be the same and if the diameters of the clutches are the same.

they are the same, your viper clutch will have different helix and spring. the viper one will have widage plates. they will be fine on or off.
just change the helix and spring to the one from the original

the original clutch (or original one to me, as we are the 3rd or so owner of the sled) has windage plates too. it looks identical to the viper clutch. the only difference i see is the part#. both clutches have the same 47 deg helix.

   Are you guys sure it will work? I'm going through this right now also. I have a secondary off of my 2002 MM and one with a roller set up on my 98XTC that I switched because I wanted to use the roller secondary on the MM. They meshed right up. Now I'm in the process of replacing the roller one all together and putting both sleds back to the stock set up. So, I just assumed that one off a Viper would work. Bought one and tried to install it on my MM,and it just spun, the splines are further out on a Viper secondary. So I checked part numbers and the Fixed sheaves are a different part number, sliding sheaves are the same. Checked some more numbers and the sx,sxr, srx,mm's are all the same vipers are different. but whats really weired is they all have the same jackshaft #. Let us know if it works or you get the same problem...... SOC
