I was working on some drop brackets today and I have a question. Does the distance from the way front skid bolt to the rear hole in the drop bracket have to be exactly the same as to the stock rear hole? My suspension compresses to the end of the transfer rods and then it's solid. I've read through every thread on here about drop brackets, and the binding issues seem to come from not drilling the center holes precisely enough. But I'm confident the center holes are precise enough, they are off .5-1mm at most. I'm not sure about the holes in drop brackets themselves though. Do they have to be as precise as the center bolts? I kind of eyeballed them to be perpendicular to the tunnel, maybe that's what my problem is?

Yes it is really important to get the holes right to get the suspension work properly.
Are you sure that it gets solid?
It should get quite a bit harder when it reaches the stop...

to be sure I pulled the springs off the shock and then tried it. The center one was the one I had off, I then pulled the suspension and made a template for the distance works smooth now!
i just put drop brackets on a 1997 v max 600 xtc with a tracks usa 136" track . my suspension gets really stiff when it reaches the stops . where should i set the springs to make the suspension softer . i have the big shock set at position a .SRXmathias said:Yes it is really important to get the holes right to get the suspension work properly.
