Ring Gap
I am finding different measurements but I do not have a 340 Manual. I have one for a 1968 SL351 twin which reads 0.0006 ~ 0.014" and another for a 500 twin 97 - 00 which reads 0.0178 ~ 0.0024" for the ring gap.
I remember finding that measurement included with the installation instructions with the piston kit. I remember 0.017 ~ 0.0024" being the correct one. Hope this helps.
Remember to check the ring at the top / bottom of the bore and again in the center to check for oblong wear. It should be OK unless your 83 has 15,000 miles on it. Good luck !!
