I have a 00' 600 sxr that revs to approx 9100 rpm's.I was going to install the 8ab weights with the 2.4 rivet as suggested but when I went to Yamaha, the parts guy asked if it was 8ab 00 or 01 or 10?Whats the difference between the three? Is there an advantage to installing the 8ab's as opposed to just putting heavier rivets in the stock weight? Also the primary spring has a smudge of yellow on it but no definitive yellow green yellow marks. Are the marks visible without disassembly of the clutch.I'd like to be sure it's right. The secondary has the correct spring in the right holes.Thanks.

I'm almost positive there's only one set of 8ab weights. The part number is 8AB-17605-10-00 and they weigh 41 grams. That's why when I go to my dealer I always take my part numbers with me. Half the time they don't know what they're talking about.

Tell ya what works as well & is about $80 cheaper. Change the inner rivet in your weights from a .8 gram to a 4.5 gram. You will be 8500 rpm all day long. 8ab weights are all the same weight regardless of part #. Try # 8ab-01 or #8ab-17605-01-00...but...I recommend the $5 rivet clutch kit.

Tree Man "IF" I were you, I'd Listen loud and clear to this gentleman!!! He knows his sh-- eeerrrrr stuff! T

If you need 600 triple weights I probably have them, my GF's new 02' 600 I bought last year ended up with 8BU-10's in it, they work very well in a 6. I should have the weights out of it in the box.

Those 600's are the most misclutched Yamaha I've ever seen, they want to way over rev all the time. 8AB's were always good in them. You will need to richen up the low end after putting more aggresive weights in it, it becomes very boggy down low.

Thanks.Speaking of carb tuning,I'd like to meet the pinhead at mikuni who made these carbs so unuser friendly to work on!What clown puts a jet screw under a carb? When you say fatten up the bottom end would I be looking pilot jet replacement or just needle and air screw tweaking.

You don't have an air screw but you do have a pilot/fuel screw. I've never heard of anyone having to go bigger on the pilots from clutching but I have read a lot of people talking about having to turn the fuel screws out farther (to like 2 turns if your at 1 1/2 turns now). Also, the needle doesn't have anything to do with the bottom end, it's for midrange.
