I think I need to add weight to my tips on my primary...I'd like to use a bolt or bolt/nut method. (8dn-20's) Wondering who has done this and if they have pics at all??? Also wondering if people have had to drill the holes out larger for bolts or run a tap in them for just a bolt alone...... but wouldn't that make the weight uneven side-to-side? Thanks

I was wondering this for tuning out West
Tap them
You can get bolts & nuts that fit or you can buy a 1/4" tap and thread them. Th teeth of the tap just barely grab. This is the best way to do it because you can thread them in for a nice tight fit and then you can still put a nut on the other side if needed. Just make sure that the head of the bolt/screw and the nut on the other side clear the spider and don't forget the lock tite.

do you know how heavy a weight you need ? If your too heavy you'll load the motor down and loss rpm!
Like Madmatt says, just use a 1/4"x28 tap in them, do not try and turn the tap in 1 revolution, as the weights are very hard, but if you go SLOW and use tap magic lube, you can make threads in them and open up the world of unlimited weight add ons. Get a good digital gram scale at office max or some office supply store so you know how much weight your adding and can make them all the same. The only thing you need to watch for is to make sure the bolt heads clear the roller surface and or dont rub on the inside of the spider pocket. Happy Tuning!

Mr viper do you also use a nut on the other side with taping??? If so wouldn't it be easier to just drill the hole and run a bolt thru and use locknuts????
no, it depends on how much weight you need to use. You wont be able to drill out the weight, they are hardened. i just go slow and tap themthen use whatever hardware gets me the weight I need, a few drops of blue loctite and your ridin.

Thanks Mr viper, I was worried that if I did just a bolt the head being on 1 side would throw the whole thing out of whack, thanks. I give it a try once we get snow!!! RIVER EVEN OPENED UP A FEW DAYS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe it is time to go fishing...
