I am looking to buy a Venom 600, I have a 00 700 Mountain Max which handles great on the nose. I want a trail sled for around home and thought a Venom might be a nice addition. Question, how do the fuel economy and durability compare. I had a 600 twin that stood up well and would get 198kms of hard riding on a tank..I know the Viper has more power...but less maintenance and weight on the Venom...Thoughts

the 600 triple stays together its tuff the only down size its under horsepowered ive seen dyno sheets from anyware 96hp tp 98hp but excellant trail sled

My Girlfriend has a 04 venom and she loves it, I have driven it a few times and the suspension is better than a SRX its the same as the viper. One day she couldn't get me off it. (Mine as broke) Around the house you can't go wrong. If it is not fast enough for you the bolts ons and work are endless for these things.

I threw pipes on mine and it really woke it up. I'm by no means ashamed to ride this little 600, It may not be the quickest, but I put my buddies sleds to shame in the twistys and long straight aways. I just put some new KYB's from Pioneer Performance to replace the steel non-rebuilds, and wow the ride is ten times better. You wouldn't be disappointed with one of these sleds.

Like said, not the fastest but the reliability is second to none!!!!!!, i'd rather
be riding then broke down/riding fast....

Exact same bottom end as the 700, so durability is EXTREMELY good. They are very hard to kill.

For some reason the 700 gets better mileage than the 600. I have have the 600 and I run 10mpg on hard runs to 12mpg on mild cruising. My dads 700 with Electric start and Reverse gets 11mpg running hard and 14mpg cruising easy. Both of ours have goes over 100mph on radar across long lake runs.

When going the same speed, the 600 is working harder than the 700 to stay at that speed. Engine working harder, (revving higher)= lower mileage. (imo)
Thats what I've noticed between the 6's and 7's I've owned.

Surprised to hear a 700 get better economy, have yet to run mine dry to check against my twin stats, any comments on sxr vs viper on ride??

SXR definately rides better than the standard '02 vipers, but the Viper ER's ride nice. The sxr's still need a revalve to take full advantage of their potential. They can be made to ride great.
