I believe......the first generation of T.S.S. suspensions like the SRV, Vmax540, Exciter, Ovation, Phazer II's all use the same lenght front springs but, have different rates, preload ect.... I been looking for different springs like Bender sold in the 80's to mid 90's (see below). I can look up different sleds and part #'s from Yamaha's website http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx but this does not show the rates or the color codes. Does anyone know what colors were used for which model/years ? The Vmax540 springs were red coded. Thanks for Any help !
Chart From Benders Catalog (No longer available)
PSI at Compressed Height of)
Color 7-1/8" 4-1/8" Part No.
Black- Progressive 100 305 TSSBLK
Gold-Straight Rate 125 320 TSSGLD
White- Progressive 110 345 TSSWHT
Purple- Progressive 135 390 TSSPRP
Yellow- Straight Rate 165 410 TSSYEL
Blue- Slightly Progressive 195 430 TSSBLU
Black/White- Progressive 150 440 TSSBLW
Red- Straight Rate 180 455 TSSRED
Green- Slightly Progressive 185 500 TSSGRN
No Color- Straight Rate 190 535 TSSNOC
I would like the Purple springs 135/390, Black White 150-440 or the Yellow 165-410 in that order. I am looking for a few sets !
Let me know, Thanks

Springs
I found my 97 Bender catalogue curious about the springs. They show :
Yellow Soft TSS005
Blue TSS002
Red TSS003
No Color Hard TSS004
with pricing on them. Too bad they did not show a chart or graph. I remember seeing such somewhere ??? I will keep looking. I did find shocks aftermarket but not springs as of yet. There are a few Hardcore Yamaha heads around here and I will give a shout when I see them again. What are you trying to do with the different springs ? Oval racing ???

540, couldn't find that box of springs, then I realized it was at my friends house he was using them on some aftermarket ski shocks, he is supposed to bring them over, I didn't realize what you were trying to do, just tell me what springs you have now in which sled, most likely you have red's and need yellows, that was what we used most of the time.

First gen Phazers don't use the same springs and struts as V-max and srv. That is all I know. They will not interchange. PzIIs do though. I don't know if any of the others interchange with the original Pz. That might be part of your trouble.
Harder T.S.S. springs ????
I'm looking for some harder T.S.S. springs for my OVATION sled since the stock ones are way to soft after 20 years !
Does someone know what spring to use from any other Yamaha with T.S.S front suspension ???
.

What color are the originals on your Ovation ? Maybe, even a new set of originals will do the trick ?

1. I have not seen any color on them.
2. Not an option because of the extremly high price.

Two 1990's Phazer's I checked had green dot springs.
If you have a freindly Yamaha parts man and the springs are all in one spot or easy to find, you could see if they will check the springs they have in stock for the color you want.

I am not sure about this one, but according to my incomplete notes from 15 years ago and my bad memory the 91-92 Exciters had Purple on the Left and Blue on the Right. If you look them up they do have different part numbers for L and R. I don't know what the 93 Exciter used but it looks like they went back to using the same spring L and R.
my 93 ovations appear to be black with a light blue paint marker spot on them
I'm looking for a spring chart for the TSS front suspension !
I want to upgrade the TSS springs on a Venture-480 TF ( 151" )

http://www.vintagevmax.com/springrates.html here you go
Sort of but not really.....
I'm looking for a T.S.S. front suspension spring chart for the following models:
* Phazer-II
* Venture-480
* SRV
* VK540-II
* Enticer-II 410
If I understand it correctly, the models above has exactly the same T.S.S. front suspension
and that springs are interchangeable.
What I want to know is color coding versus spring force and Yamaha part #
In my sled the T.S.S. springs has part # 90501-787F4-00 , Colour: ? ? ? ?
but I think that they are too soft and would like to have a little stiffer springs.
I'm a newbie on Yamaha sleds but I trying to learn.
