Hi guys i am over-reving with the set up www primary spring using stock weights with the added 4.5g rivet. My secondary is running the stock red spring with a 50/44 hauck helix.. What can i do to run around 8400-8500 rpm. its now hitting 9000rpm which i beleive is too much. correct me if i am wrong.

how much wrap on the secondary spring? what weights are you running?

HAVE ANY OTHER HELIX,s YOU CAN TRY WITH ALITTLE LESS FINISH. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I am running 60 wrap on secondary with the stock 8dn's weights. Will increasing the wrap lower or raise rpm's?

YOUR AT THE END OF PLAYING WITH SECONDARY TENSION AT 60 TWIST AND STILL OVER REVING. YOU INCRESE YOUR WRAP PROBLEM WILL GET WORSE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

you said you have 8dn weights.....which ones....8dn-00, 8dn-10, or 8dn-20? you should have 8dn-20's. not sure on what rivets to be using.

in my 98 i'am running 8dn-20 with 4.5 inner 5.5 outer (4.5 gram rivit with a 1 gram washer) 51/43 yami helix ,green spring at 60 ,primary www. revs 8300 start to 8500 finish.5.5 in the tip might help.

After rerading up on this it seems that 9801 srx is correct on his suggestion, it sounds like my tip weight needs to be heavier to drop the max rpm

9801srx: I've got almost the same setup...but am over-revving with 4.5g in both holes. I think i need to do the same as you did with 5.5g in the tips.
However, i find it odd that you and I seem to be the only people that cannot run the correct RPMS with 4.5g in both holes!
...ESPECIALLY seeing as this setup seems to have been around for a long time....
...weird....

if you try the 1g washer make sure none of the washer is above the roller surface of the weight .i had to file a very small bit off the washer to make it level with the weight surface.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I have been over-reving also using the 51/43 helix.Have 8DN-20's with 5.5 in both holes,w-w-w primary,4000 engagement, red spring at 70 and was getting 8800-8900 wot..Switched to y-w-y primary, engagment dropped to about 3500.red spring at 60 and wot was 8700.Then went to straight 47 helix an d wot was 8400.Will now try w-w-w primary again, still 5.5 in both holes, green spring at 60 with the 51/43 helix and see the outcome.

I have primary 8DN-20's with 4.5 in heel and 5.4 in tip.Running stock SRX spring(y-w-y) with 51/43 helix with green wrapped at 70.Engages about 3500-3700 and runs to about 8200-8300 and climbs to 8700 at WOT.So I will either wrap green to 60 or put red in at 70 to start.Gotto drop my top rpm's some.
w-w-w & y-w-y should have the exact same engagement. preload is same(controls engagement) but total force is higher on the y-w-y(controls shift rpm,s) the outer colour tells you total force. the inner colour tells you pre-load.

Would less finish not create more rpms due to less resistance on the topend?
Less finish = lower rpm,s from slower upshift. higher finish = more rpm,s from quicker upshift.
hey turk do u talk about helix ??? maybe i did a mystake but the finish angle the smaller it is the more it will make u ovverave at top end cause the sled doesnt shift fast enough ????if not i totally crewed lolll
smaller angle = slower upshift = more rpm,s.

ok now i'm really **** up i hope the summer is coming pretty soon cause my brain will go caboummm lollll.... i know it shift slower but didnt know about the lower rpm ..i was sure because it shift slower more tip weight will be needed to adjust the overrave
