...SNOW AND COLD TAKING HOLD OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...

.LOW PRESSURE WILL RACE FROM CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN THROUGH
ONTARIO OVERNIGHT. SNOW WILL END IN SOME AREAS...WHILE LAKE EFFECT
SNOWS DEVELOP ACROSS THE SNOWBELTS. THE HEAVIEST SNOW WILL FALL
ACROSS EASTERN UPPER MICHIGAN.

AFTER A BRIEF BREAK IN THE SNOW EARLY FRIDAY...CONDITIONS WILL
DETERIORATE RAPIDLY LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AS AN ARCTIC FRONT
APPROACHES THE AREA. THIS FRONT WILL SWEEP ACROSS THE REGION
FRIDAY NIGHT BRINGING THE COLDEST AIR OF THE WINTER AND LOCALLY
HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO SATURDAY
NIGHT.

THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.

AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP INTO THE AREA LATE FRIDAY
AFTERNOON...USHERING IN THE COLDEST AIR OF THIS WINTER SEASON.
SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE ONGOING FRIDAY...HOWEVER BETTER
SNOWS WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE LAKE MICHIGAN SHORELINE FROM MANISTEE
TOWARD PETOSKEY LATE IN THE DAY. THIS SNOW MAY BECOME HEAVY BY
EARLY EVENING.

AS THE FRONT MOVES THROUGH THE AREA...WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE
NORTHWEST AND LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL BECOME FOCUSED IN THE
NORTHWEST FLOW FAVORED AREAS. THIS WOULD INCLUDE AREAS SUCH AS
CHARLEVOIX...GAYLORD...MANCELONA AND BELLAIRE. THE LAKE EFFECT
SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT. STORM TOTAL
ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE BY SUNDAY
MORNING...WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS IN THE NORTHWEST FLOW FAVORED
AREAS.

IN ADDITION TO THE SNOW...GUSTY WINDS WILL CREATE AREAS OF
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. IT WILL ALSO PRODUCE WIND CHILL
READINGS IN THE TEENS BELOW ZERO SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WINTER
WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR

AN ARCTIC HIGH BUILDING SOUTHWARD ALONG THE ALBERTA-SASKATCHEWAN BOUNDARY IS CREATING A COLD NORTHWESTERLY FLOW OVER THE REGION. BY FRIDAY MORNING MOST TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR MINUS 30. THESE TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH WINDS OF 15 TO 20 KM/H WILL RESULT IN EXTREME WIND CHILL VALUES OF MINUS 40 TO MINUS 45. WIND CHILLS WILL MODERATE A LITTLE DURING THE DAY ON FRIDAY IN WESTERN MANITOBA BUT WILL GENERALLY REMAIN NEAR MINUS 40 OVER SOUTHEASTERN MANITOBA. SOUTHEASTERN MANITOBA INCLUDING THE CITY OF WINNIPEG WILL BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF EXTREME WIND CHILLS OF NEAR MINUS 45 OVERNIGHT FRIDAY.
