Colorado Senate Bill 08-063 that's in the loop for 2008.

New laws:

Replaces current off-highway vehicle and snowmobile sound standards with a statewide SAE international standard of:

90 db(A) for snowmobiles manufactured on or after July 1,
1972, but prior to July 2, 1975; and
88 db(A) for snowmobiles manufactured on or after July 2,
1975.
Exempts closed-circuit races and vehicles used in an emergency for search and rescue and for agricultural purposes. Imposes a penalty of up to $100.

C.S.A. IS ACTUALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR WRITING THIS! :ban:

These are reasonable noise levels and will help keep the trails open for everyone.
A snowmobiler was ticketed last weekend in Grand Lake Co for loud pipes and going 72 mph down main street (25 mph zone) in the afternoon on Saturday, both these actions P***Off locals and put all of us at risk of losing our privilege to ride.

I don't like loud pipes either, but I'm also not stock.

The response I got from CSA was that they modeled this legislation from WI law. What I don't want to see is the "NO EXHAUST MODS AT ALL" clause get added in.

The guy doing that speed in downtown GL deserved what he got. That was a stupid thing to do.
